Guidelines and Interpretations of the CT Real Estate Licensing Law

The attached questions and answers were compiled by the Connecticut Real Estate Commission in Cooperation with the Connecticut Association of REALTORS®, Inc. The purpose of this material is to provide individuals licensed under the Connecticut Real Estate Licensing Law and the general public with guidelines and information relating to the real estate industry. The answers that are set forth below are to questions which are frequently asked of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission and are based upon interpretations of existing law and regulations and not upon the bylaws, code of ethics or rules of any private organization. The statements contained herein are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as a matter of law or as the policy of the Real Estate Commission for any particular set of facts. All reference below to “Commission” means the Connecticut Real Estate Commission and to “Regulations” means the Regulations under §20-328 concerning the conduct of real estate brokers and salesmen.
