Chamberlain Named ECAR REALTOR® of the Year, Peck Named ECAR Affiliate of the Year


Susan Barnhouser, Eastern Connecticut Association of REALTORS® REALTOR® of the Year Committee Chair, announced Debra Chamberlain of William Raveis Real Estate in Mystic is the 2011 REALTOR® of the Year as the final agenda item at the REALTOR® of the Year and Affiliate of the Year Evening at the Spa at Norwich Inn in Norwich on June 9, 2011. Earlier, ECAR President Samantha Storey announced that Jon Peck, of Peck & Tuneski, P.C in New London is the 2011 Affiliate of the Year recipient.

Chamberlain has been active in both the REALTOR® organization and the community for a number of years. She is currently the Immediate Past President of ECAR, having served as President, President Elect, Secretary and Director in prior years. She has chaired or been a member of numerous ECAR committees. At the State Association, Debra is currently serving as the Vice President of Communications, is a member of the Issues Advocacy and Political Fundraising Committees, has served as state Director and is a frequent contributor to the REALTORS.® Political Action Committee. On the national level she is the Region 1 representative to the NAR State and Local Issue Committee. Locally, she has provided support for numerous civic organizations and has participated in several Habitat for Humanity builds.

In completing the award information form, Chamberlain wrote “Since the inception of my career in real estate in 2000, I have worked hard to become successful in two particular areas: my sales achievements and my volunteer leadership and work on behalf of the Association. My philosophy is: You get what you give. I also truly believe that my professional successes have come about as a result of the experience, knowledge, relationships and support that I have received as a result of my volunteering. I am honored to have been nominated and thrilled to serve!”

Five other finalists for the Award were also recognized for their significant REALTOR® and civic accomplishments. They are:

Prior to the REALTOR® of the Year announcement, Susan Barnhouser announced that Robert Kimball of William Raveis Real Estate was chosen as ECAR’s nominee for the 2011 Connecticut REALTOR® of the Year.

Jon Peck

Jon Peck, an attorney with Peck & Tuneski, P.C. in New London, has served ECAR for many years. He is and has been the Chairman of the Affiliate Committee. He currently serves on the Strategic Planning Committee and the Facilities Planning Task Force and has served on a variety of committees including the Member Services Committee, and has worked to increase Affiliate membership in the Association. In completing the award information form, Peck wrote “I am committed to the success of our industry and to the success of ECAR, it’s members, and the cooperative bond between REALTORS® and Affiliates.

The other finalist for the award was Chris Albanese of The Law Firm of Chris Albanese in Gales Ferry who was recognized for his significant contributions to the Association and his civic accomplishments.
