General Course Information & Schedule
In order to sit for the salesperson's license real estate exam, you must successfully complete a 60 hour Principles and Practices Course that meets the minimum requirements as set forth by the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Real Estate Commission.
We are pleased to be able to offer this course which includes the following subject matter:
- real estate law
- brokerage
- Connecticut real estate license law and regulations
- equal opportunity in housing real estate valuation
- financing
- specialized fields of real estate practice
- development
- land use regulations
- taxation
- market analysis
- the real estate business
While the course is intended to prepare individuals to take the Connecticut real estate salesperson's exam, it is also an excellent choice for those who wish to gain more detailed knowledge about the home buying and home selling process.
The cost for the 60 hour course is $490.00. Both the required text books, "Connecticut Real Estate: Practice and Law, 12th edition", "Modern Real Estate Practice, 18th edition", and "Study Guide for Modern Real Estate Practice, 18th edition" valued at $52.00, and the final exam at the end of the class are included in the tuition. In the event you cancel your registration, the textbooks are non-refundable.

Existing real estate salespersons who wish to take a 30 hour course for their broker's license can register for the 30 hour course by using the 30 hour course registration form. If you completed the original 30 hours of Principles & Practices prior to 10/1994 you will be required to complete the full 60 hours of Principles & Practices. Classes meet on Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Association office. Please consult Kathryn O'Leary for more details.
Once you have taken the course there are practice exams for both the national and state portions of the exam available on line at RECampus.com.
Final Exams will be held at the Eastern Connecticut Association of REALTORS® office at 106 Rte 32, North Franklin, CT on the first Friday from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and on the third Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. or 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. each month. The 60 hours of class time, must be completed before you can take the course exam.
